Dr. Amber Corvores quietly shut the office door, closing off the view of Colonel O'Neill and Dr. Fraiser.
Amber crossed her arms, careful not to bend the files she was carrying.
She'd suspected something was going on between the Colonel and Dr. Fraiser, but they'd been discreet so she hadn't been subjected to any uncomfortable situations.
How Dr. Fraiser could hook up with the Colonel was beyond her.
Sado-masochism was the only thing Amber could think of to explain it.
That or drugs and she didn't think Dr. Fraiser was that type of person.
She deliberately focused her thoughts on how unappealing and repulsive Col. O'Neill was, refusing to dwell on how sweet the moment she'd seen between the Colonel and Dr. Fraiser had been.
She didn't allow her mind to go to that area anymore.
Not even in the privacy of her own home, away from prying eyes did she allow grief even a moment's reign.
Deciding they'd had long enough, she gave a loud knock on the office door to alert them to her imminent arrival.
Hearing a muffled curse brought a malicious smile to her face and she quickly killed it.
Squaring her shoulders and straightening her spine almost painfully, she readied herself for another confrontation with that vile man.
Pushing open the door, she noted that Dr. Fraiser was picking up different items from the floor and her chair and placing them in a small bag on the desk.
The Colonel, on the other hand, was very casually leaning against the desk...almost like a cat.
His eyes missed nothing as she crossed the room.
He made her uneasy at the best of times, when he wasn't even aware she was in the room.
It was a million times worse when he turned those coldly assessing eyes on her, always finding her lacking.
He was the only thing about this job she genuinely hated.
Hoping she looked composed, she forced herself to look past him to the scurrying doctor.
"Dr. Fraiser, I brought the results from the experiments I ran on Dr. Jackson's retina changes."
Dr. Fraiser popped up immediately, but wasn't as fast as the Colonel.
Amber grasped the file against her as the Colonel's hand clutched air where the file had been a moment before.
"Col. O'Neill! These files are confidential. I stepped out of line telling you anything about Dr. Jackson without his permission and he informed me I wasn't to do that again. I hope, Dr. Fraiser, that you also honor the patient-doctor confidentiality act...even with the Colonel."
Amber's knees started to shake and she willed them to keep her upright under the scorchingly angry gaze the Colonel blazed in her direction.
Dr. Fraiser's mouth tightened at the implication, but she simply nodded.
"Thank you, Dr. Corvores. I'll look at them now if you don't mind."
Realizing there wasn't anything she could do if Dr. Fraiser did share the files with the Colonel, short of squealing to the General, Amber decided to just give the files over and get out of the room so she wouldn't choke while breathing the same air the Colonel breathed.
Shutting the door behind her, she grabbed her purse and got ready to go home for the day.
She usually stayed a couple hours longer, but today she'd had two encounters with the Colonel and she definitely wanted a shower.
Noone and nothing could make her feel as filthy as a conversation with him.

Teal'c walked into Daniel's office, suprised to find the archaeologist rummaging through books.
Daniel glanced up and after giving a distracted wave, he went back to the book he was reading.
Teal'c moved to read over Daniel's shoulder and froze as the words 'necromancy' and 'seance' were repeated.
Memories of previous conversations came to mind and Teal'c put a hand on Daniel's shoulder.
"Not now, Teal'c. I may be on to something. If Sam's dead, we can just find a way to either contact her or raise her."
Teal'c's jaw was made of stone as he swung Daniel's chair so the two men were facing each other.
"You wish to bring her back. Are you sure using these methods will bring her back and not some other?"
Daniel's sleep-deprived, adrenalin-filled eyes looked past Teal'c to the wall.
"If there's a way to bring her back, I have to try. I can't lose any more family. I just can't."
    Teal'c's eyes softened a bit.
"I do not believe this is an appropriate course of action, but I will stand with you if you wish to follow it."
Daniel looked Teal'c in the eye.
"Thank you. I just have to try."
With that, the two men turned to the books piled on the desk.
